RSA stamps

The brief for the RSA project was to design a set of stamps celebrating British Fashion. My first idea was to use the scenes from Radley on my stamps using the British colours, I really like them but they are not iconic enough for the brief.

My second idea was to look at textile designers so I looked at Celia Birtwell and Cath Kidston, after lots of research I decided Celia Birtwell was the most iconic. I managed to get some of her samples, I then used watercolour to paint the patterns she designed and put it on some drawings of her items. Agian i kept to the British colours and I also used items which are iconic of British weather such as the umbrella and scarf. I really liked the designs, but through research I looked at Celia's initial designs of her patterns and she used pen drawings to show how her patterns would look on a model, she uses the same model in all of her drawings so I used that as another idea. Overall I prefer the watercolour stamps and will use these for my final stamps.
